MURRAY DOWNS LADIES

TWO special events have been decided at Murray Downs Golf & Country Club over the past two weeks.

Firstly, new golfer Sally Fearn took out the Anniversary Cup with a score of 43 points. This event was introduced to commemorate the 25th anniversary of the club in 2016.

The next event was decided on Wednesday and was the qualifying round of the Golf on the Murray 4ball.

Winners of this event were Kathy Parkinson (15) and her granddaughter Audrey Domaille (32), who scored 51 points and will have the honour of representing Murray Downs at the playoff at the Corowa Golf Club in July.

They will be accompanied by second placegetters, Val Hedwards (18) and Mandy Amezdroz (50) on 43 points, who qualified on a countback from Lois Carnie and Kristy Gordon, and Jan Butcher and Rosie Ficarra.

Another notable event was the April Monthly Medal, played last Wednesday, with Val Hedwards 85-19-66 successful. This is Val’s fifth medal over a golf career which has spanned over 30 years. Runner-up to Val in Division 1 was Chris Warburton (20) with a 70 net score.

In Division 2, Kerry Gammon (34) 71 net and Jenice Krahnert (29) 72 took the honours, while the ball pool was led by Lynne Bishop 70 and Georgina Douglas 73.

Val Hedwards collected the prize for the least putts with 28 and also the nearest the pin prize on the 15th hole. Other NTPs were won by Lynne Bishop, Anne Webb and Sheila Beard, who was rewarded with the jackpot on the 11th.

Other results from Wednesday included Janette Tucker and Chris Warburton, who hit accurate shots to the 11th hole and shared the jackpot with Di Martin, with Audrey Domaille and Deb Watson were successful on the other par 3s. Maryanne Davis birdied the 12th hole to snare the birdie’s nest.

Last Saturday, eight marker Dione Heppell scored 39 points to win ahead of Kristy Gordon (16) with 37 points. Tina King, Wendy Talbot and Marg Moore all scored 36 points.
