Words from the mayor

Consider becoming a councillor

IF you have ever entertained the thought of becoming a councillor, there is no better time than now to start doing your homework.

I strongly urge anyone who has contemplated the idea of standing for council to get involved.

Serving as a Councillor is a real privilege, it gives us the ability to directly participate in Council’s decision making and shape the immediate, medium and longer-term future of our municipality.

If you know of someone that you think would make a great Councillor, tap them on the shoulder and suggest that they look into it.

We are seeking a diverse range of voices to join us in the future.

Now more than ever, we need to inspire great people to consider standing for Council for the future of our region.

Please feel free to get in touch with one of our current or past Councillors to find out more information about what is involved.

Tower Hill stage 14

Council is delighted to be releasing another stage in the Tower Hill development.

Tower Hill’s Stage 14 consists of 24 blocks ranging in size from 542sqm, to 797sqm, and starting from $152,250. Each lot is fully serviced and ready to build on.

Stage 14 will open for registrations of interest from 9am on Monday, March 13 to 5pm on Friday, March 17 via towerhill.swanhill.vic.gov.au

Due to significant interest in blocks, a ballot draw will be held on Monday, March 20 at 2pm.

Process and details will be available on the Tower Hill website from Monday, March 13.

Congratulations to Belgravia Leisure

I would like to extend my congratulations to Belgravia Leisure for being awarded our Management and Operation of Leisure and Aquatic Services contract.

The new contract builds on our partnership that was first created 20 years ago – a significant and strong partnership that Council is proud to be continuing.

March Music Madness

All roads lead to Swan Hill for music this month.

March Music Madness begins this weekend when the Swan Hill Town Hall PACC hosts Vika and Linda Bull.

That’s followed by the ever-popular Food and Wine Festival on the long weekend. This year’s event will be headlined by Rogue Traders and supported by Sam + Sam and local favourites the Drowning Sorrows.

Double Grammy nominated US blues man Eric Bibb will perform his Ridin’ tour at the Swan Hill Town Hall on Thursday, 16 March.

The March Music Madness grand finale is ROCKWIZ LIVE! on Saturday, March 18 at the Riverside Park Soundshell.

The ROCKWIZ LIVE! Back on the Road show is one to add to your calendar.

Pack your favourite chair, blanket or even a bean bag and settle back at the Riverside Park to enjoy a fantastic night of music, fun and laughter.

Coldie with a Councillor

We are changing things up a tad from our traditional Coffee with a Councillor and encouraging residents to join us for a casual catch up over a coldie.

Please join Cr King and I, on Friday, March 17 at the Swan Hill club from 4-6pm to talk about local issues that matter to you.

We look forward to seeing you.
