Stars ready to shine

SOME of Australia’s biggest entertainers are heading to the heart of the Murray this month in what the industry is dubbing “March music madness”.

Vika and Linda kick off the month on March 3 at Swan Hill Town Hall and Rogue Traders perform at the Swan Hill Region Food and Wine Festival at Pioneer Settlement on March 11.

US blues legend Eric Bibb and his band take the stage at Swan Hill Town Hall on March 16, before Australia’s premier live music trivia quiz RocKwiz Live! Under the Stars featuring Brian Nankervis and Julia Zemiro is at the sound shell in Riverside Park on March 18, after being re-scheduled due to last year’s floods.

Bendigo-based musician Grim Fawkner will begin the night’s entertainment with his upbeat roots, country and blues originals.

Swan Hill Council performing arts and venue manager Simon Myers said there was something for everyone with the music scheduled for the Swan Hill community during March.

“To attract artists of this calibre to Swan Hill is a real coup,” he said.

“The success of last year’s Go North Arts Festival in September showed the appetite there is in Swan Hill for concerts and live music performances and council is committed to continue attracting major performing artists to our city and putting it on the map as major cultural centre in the heart of the Murray region.

“RocKwiz Live! will be the first of many Under the Stars events at Riverside Park.

“They are a great way of bringing the community together to enjoy quality entertainment on the banks of the beautiful Murray River.”
