Central Murray Netball Round 2 Preview

KOONDROOK-BARHAM v NNW UNITED

AFTER securing just their second win in three seasons last Saturday, Koondrook-Barham will go into tomorrow’s match against Nyah-Nyah West United as the slightest of favourites.

River Raiders co-coach Elly Bookham will come into the line-up at wing attack to further strengthen the home team’s midcourt, while the Demons will go in with an unchanged line-up that was ultra competitive, but ultimately unsuccessful, against Swan Hill last Saturday.

Both the Raiders and Demons could easily prove to be among the Central Murray’s big improvers this season based off last Saturday’s performances, with very little expected to separate the two clubs tomorrow.

The difference may well prove to be the Raiders strong defence, with Sophie Peacock, Larney Allen and Emma Peacock already forming a strong partnership, with NNW United still in the process of working out which combination between Milla Hovenden, Taylen Blachford and Gemma Hendy will be their strongest in attack.

Tip – Koondrook-Barham to win by two goals.

TOOLEYBUC-MANANGATANG v KERANG

AFTER a strong performance against the reigning premiers last Saturday and with goal shooter Denise Roberts returning for her first match of the season, Kerang will go into tomorrow’s match against Tooleybuc-Manangatang full of confidence.

The inclusion of Roberts will further strengthen the Blues attacking third, with goal attack Katelyn Wright providing a strong target in her 200th A grade game last Saturday after shooting 31 of her teams 45 goals.

Roberts and Wright will face much tougher opposition tomorrow in the form of Laura Grant and Taylah Morris, with the pair expected to be better for the run in the Saints 13-goal loss to the Mallee Eagles.

Grant was among Tooleybuc-Manangatang’s better players last week, along with Jayda Plant, who played a mixture of centre and goal attack in a strong first up performance.

Plant looms as a key player again for the Saints, with Madison Hall expected to get the job of quelling her in the centre and Maddy Black the job when Plant plays in attack.

Tip – Kerang to win by three goals.

WOORINEN v TYNTYNDER

WOORINEN will be hoping to maintain their winning start to 2025 when they host Tyntynder at Tigerland tomorrow afternoon.

Adding to the Tigers confidence following their 22-goal win over Balranald will be the returns of Tessa Demaria and Courtney Lolicato for tomorrow’s match against the Bulldogs, with Demaria expected to further strengthen the home sides defence.

The other big strength of Woorinen’s is their attacking third, with the partnership between Tayla Bennett and Willow Conlan showing positive signs first up against the Roos, with the pair scoring 54 goals between them.

Tyntynder will also be strengthened by a couple of key inclusions tomorrow, with Elvie Kelly-Britten and Tamara Weiss coming into the Bulldogs midcourt.

Kelly-Britten in particular will be an important addition, with the Tyntynder centre likely to line-up against young gun Ava Crow.

Tip – Woorinen to win by eight goals.

COHUNA v BALRANALD

THE Cohuna Kangas will begin their 2025 season at home against Balranald tomorrow, with the Kangas expected to be one of the big improvers this season.

The Kangas will have a brand new attack this season, with Danni Bird returning to play in goals alongside former Kerang GA Carla Walker.

Also set to play her first game in purple tomorrow is former Echuca United midcourter Tanner Edwards, who is expected to have a significant impact in the centre alongside young gun Taylor Hird and Lily Guerrin.

Having succumbed to Woorinen by 22 goals last Saturday, Balranald will be keen to atone, with Taylin Barry returning to the Roos line-up for her first game of the season, with Bec Harvey set to miss tomorrow’s all-important clash.

Harvey will be a major loss for Balranald, with her accurate shooting and height in the ring likely to be hard for the Roos to replicate tomorrow.

Tip – Cohuna to win by five goals.
