8pm: Live music at the Swan Hill Club featuring Endangered Species.

8pm: Live Music at the Murray Downs Golf and Country Club featuring The Drowning Sorrows.

Evening: Swan Hill RSL Club evening entertainment featuring Spectrum Discos.

TOMORROW

8am: Lake Boga Foreshore parkrun. Join us for a walk, jog or run along the beautiful 5km course. Bring the whole family, walk and talk with friends, or challenge yourself. It’s the best way to kick off the weekend. For more details: www.parkrun.com.au/lakebogaforeshore.

8.30am-12.30pm: Robinvale Country Market is held in on the second Saturday of the month. Various market stalls, fresh produce, plants, and entertainment.

9am-12 noon: Nyah District Lions Country Market is held on the 2nd Saturday of every month. Various stalls including honey, fruit and vegetables, plants, donuts, bric- a-brac. Set up a stall for free. Entry by gold coin donation, dogs on leash welcome.

5pm: Live music: home grown, folk, country, blues, cold beer, great food and more at the Mystic Park Hotel.

6pm: Nick Capper comedy show at the Swan Hill Club for a wild night of stand up comedy. Bring the crew in for a few drinks and many laughs. Entry is free, even better.

8.30pm: Live music at the Swan Hill Club featuring The Mo’ Joes.

SUNDAY

10am-12.30pm: It’s repair cafe time on the third Sunday of the month. Bring your items for fixing to the Men’s Shed at Neighbourhood House. Experienced repair volunteers will assist you in repairing your household items, saving them from the tip. For more details, email repaircafe@shnh.org.au.

3pm: Live music in the beer garden at the Swan Hill Club featuring Scoogs.

4pm: Mallee Tabletop Games meet on the first and third Sunday of each month at the Swan Hill Club.

JANUARY 16

2pm-3pm: Join in this fun tech session with the Sphero SPRK+. Children will navigate a maze using simple code to make the Sphero talk, move and change colours. iPads are supplied so children need only bring along their imagination. Bookings essential. For ages 10+. Free. Children under 12 must be supervised by an adult.

4pm-5pm: This school holidays Reclink in partnership with Youth Inc will be holding some pop-up lawn games. These activities will start on January 9 and run for four weeks. All inclusive, no experience needed. This is a free, youth-focused event – drug, alcohol and vape free.

JANUARY 17

10am-11am: School holiday workshop at Swan Hill Regional Art Gallery. Decorated giant paper lantern. In this lesson, children will explore shape, line and repetition to create patterns inspired by Chinese art. Cost is $5 per primary school-aged children. Free with gallery family membership. Bookings essential.

2pm-3pm: Enjoy table-top science, build with blocks, use a microscope to study microorganisms, discover how electricity works, weigh yourself with a see-saw, make a water whirlpool and play with magnets along with lots of other great experiments. Bookings essential, for ages 3+. Cost is free. Children under 12 must be supervised by an adult.

JANUARY 18

3.30pm-4.15pm: CJ’s Puppets Musical Adventure. Join CJ and his hilarious puppet friends as they travel across the world. Featuring original songs, as well as classics such as The Grand Old Duke of York and Home Among The Gumtrees, audience interaction and quick to learn dance moves. This show is an informative and very entertaining experience. Suitable for all ages.

JANUARY 19

10am-11am: The children will be hands on in this art gallery workshop, working with airdrying clay. Drawing from local birdlife, they’ll be making earthenware clay birds using different techniques to create a wonderful flock. Cost is $5 per primary school-aged children. Free with gallery family membership. Bookings essential.

1pm-2pm: Join Bella from Bunnings Swan Hill for a simple and creative children’s activity. Create your own unique library bag using coloured markers, fabric paint and your imagination. For ages 5+, free, children under 12 must be supervised by an adult.

Immerse yourself in a bevy of naive Australian paintings hung in the traditional salon style, showcasing the many works the

gallery is renowned for, including recent acquisitions and also favourites by Sam Byrne, Lorna Chick and Henri Bastin.

Swan Hill Regional Art Gallery – ON THE LAND

Mark Dober is a landscape painter who lives in Castlemaine, central Victoria. He makes his work on site in the surrounding forest and pastoral landscape. Mark also paints further afield, and will be undertaking a residency in the region to make work for his exhib­ition of wall-sized watercolours at Swan Hill ­Regional Gallery.

Swan Hill’s longest running art group, Mallee Artist Swan Hill, will celebrate with a range of works spanning its 21-year history. Past and present members come together showcasing a variety of talents in this diverse and uplifting retrospective. All welcome to the end- of-year exhibition opening and celebration.

Swan Hill Regional Art Gallery – SONGLINES 11

This collection of drawing, painting and ­ceramics has been created by students from the Koori Cultural Arts Course at Swan Hill Sunraysia Institute of TAFE during 2022. Comprising of both Elders and younger stud­ents, the group has worked together to produce a mix of Koori contemporary and traditional artworks and ceramics.
