Friday, September 16
– The release date of Murray River Council’s draft Residential Housing Strategy was pushed back due to data discrepancies. The draft strategy is centred around meeting future housing demands across the municipality, and was delayed due to a disconnect between population projections and pre-sold land data.
– Member for Mallee Anne Webster held talks with various federal Labor ministers about issues affecting the “day-to-day” lives of people in her electorate, placing particular emphasis on the lack of access to childcare in towns like Birchip, Boort, Wedderburn, Cohuna, Pyramid Hill and Murtoa.
Tuesday, September 20
– The Balranald Roos A Grade Netball claimed victory over Swan Hill in the 2022 Central Murray Grand Final in a two-goal win. In the football, the Kerang Blues defeated the Cohuna Kangas by 10 points to claim their eight premiership in 11 seasons.
– All elective surgery at Swan Hill District Health was cancelled on the one-off public holiday set by the Federal Government as a National Day of Mourning for the Queen’s death. SHDH acting chief executive Chloe Keogh said the decision was “regrettable”, but that every patient who had been booked for surgery on that day had been allocated a new date.
