Friday, July 1
• A Piangil resident and business owner reacted strongly at the decision made by Transport NSW over works on the embattled Tooleybuc bridge. “You can put lipstick on a pig and it’s still a pig. It’s the same thing with the bridge – you can dress it up a little bit, but it is still an old bridge,” he said. Work on the bridge would be carried out between 4.30pm and midnight for six weeks following community consultation.
• It was a day for recognising the hard work and dedication of police officers, with the Victoria Police medal and certificate presentation.
Tuesday, July 5
• There wasn’t a change in the “character of the market” since the first of the Reserve Bank’s recent interest rate rises, with the Swan Hill CBD showing “strong recovery” post-pandemic, according to real estate agent John Monahan.
• A team of six high school students from the Buloke and Loddon regions had success among other future Victorian leaders at the 2022 Youth Parliament. Each team has the chance to present a Bill and a team is then put on the other side of the floor to argue against it.
