Favourite tales on stage

AN afternoon of favourite movie tunes will be belted out by the crew from Danceforce Swan Hill as they present At the Movies this Saturday at Swan Hill College’s Harrison Hall.

It’s Danceforce’s big performance for the year, with the concert’s theme involving great music from beloved cinema.

Danceforce owner Joanne Shipsides says family and friends should expect the full spectrum of emotions.

“With them being kids, I’m sure there’ll be a bit of cheekiness and humour in there, but there’ll also be some sad moments amongst all kinds of different things.

“It’s going to be great to be able to have a more normal concert this year and be able to share our talented dancers with you.

“They are very excited to perform and entertain their audience.”

Students aged three to 17 will perform in classical ballet, jazz, tap and lyrical styles and costumes that are sure to wow the audience.

“Come expecting to see some cute little lions and monkeys, a cheeky Alice in Wonderland, a good Alice in Wonderland and some Tinkerbells,” Ms Shipsides said.

It has been months of hard work (and a few tears) to get the kids ready, but they had improved out of sight, according to Ms Shipsides.

“We started our concert practice in Term 2, so we’ve been practising for a long time,” she said.

“They started with a concentration on examination work and how to dance, along with following the syllabus we use before they went into their exams.

“They have all improved heaps with their technique and acting ability, which is fantastic.”

There will be shows at 1pm and 6pm.

Tickets are available at the door or at trybooking.com.

Enrolments for 2023 are open at danceforceswanhill.com.au
