Dog leaves kennel

WHILE Tyntynder has been busy announcing a number of re-signings this week, one player whose name hasn’t featured is star midfielder Marcus Wattie. The speedy onballer will leave the kennel to play with Shepparton United in the Goulburn Valley Football League next season.

Wattie will leave a massive hole in the Bulldogs’ engine room. His class and speed gave Tyntynder great drive out of the middle and he franked his good form by finishing eighth in this year’s Jack Betts Medal count, polling 15 votes for the season.

The news isn’t all bad for Tyntynder supporters, however. Re-signings in recent days include 2022 best and fairest Elia Ware, along with influential players Cayden Crowe, Patrick Crowe, Tate Hulland, Brodie Bennett, Ben Hallam, Darcy Bibby, Jackson Morris, Ben Derbas, Elliott Broad, Isaiah Bull, Tom Bull, Harry Simpson, Zac Denham, Cameron Cook and Patrick Blake.

Saints’ recruiting spree continues

TOOLEYBUC-Manangatang have continued adding to their list ahead of the 2023 season, with the Saints’ midfield depth set to receive a much-needed boost by the addition of two impressive onballers.

Inside midfielder Blake Grant and forward-midfielder Trey Clark, both from Tasmania, will bring their talents north to the Saints next season. Grant comes from the Kingborough Tigers in the Tasmanian State League, having also spent time with the Southport Sharks. Grant is also a former club best-and-fairest winner and has played more than 100 senior games with Kingborough. He will bring a hard-nosed, contested edge to the Tooleybuc-Manangatang midfield next season.

Clark, on the other hand, will most likely spend the bulk of his time in the forward half of the ground, as well providing depth as part of their midfield rotations. The pair join a number of Tooleybuc-Manangatang recruits for next season, including the already announced Tim Auckland, Ethan Goldfinch and Kwaby Boakye.

Demons re-signings

NYAH-Nyah West United has added much-needed goalkicking depth to the forward line for next season, announcing the signing of forward Chris Daniele.

Daniele spent the past two seasons plying his trade with the Bell Post Hill Football Club in the Geelong District Football League, but has spent the majority of his time with Portarlington in the Bellarine FNL. He was Portarlington’s leading goalkicker.

The good news continues for NNW United, with the Demons regaining the services of previous best and fairest Joel Walsh and re-signing last year’s best and fairest runner-up Jaydyn Stirling, midfielder Brady Davidson and improving youngster Campbell Everitt.

Macorna’s recruiting coup

ATTACKING half-back Alex Kirby will have a change of sash colours next season, with the now former Wandella player switching to rival Macorna for next season.

Kirby will be a massive addition to the Tigers’ line-up – and a major loss to Wandella’s – as both clubs attempt to make an impression on the changing landscape of the Golden Rivers Football Netball League next season.

Kirby won’t be the only new face at Tigerland in 2023, with Tyntynder’s Jack Featherby also signing on, along with Anthony Free, who will return to Tigerland. The news gets better for the yellow and black, with a number of players recommitting for next year, including Josh Berryman, Grady Smith, Shaun Haffenden, Josh Walters, Chris Wilson, Troy Parker, Josh Cameron, Jacob McIntosh, Toby Whinfield and Hunter Anset.
