Dinosaurs a roaring success

THE dinosaur-themed school holiday program which ran across Swan Hill has been a hailed a roaring success.

Locals and visitors flocked to the activities taking place across the town, including the interactive children’s show, Dinomaniacs, which performed live at the Swan Hill Town Hall to a sold-out crowd of more than 250 people.

The show, which inspired Swan Hill Council’s creative minds to run dinosaur themed activities for the school holidays, featured roving puppet dinosaurs and gave families the very popular option for a post-show snap.

Pioneer Settlement joined in the fun and turned its rose garden into a temporary DinoPark with colourful dinosaur statues for everyone to enjoy.

During the school holidays 6500 people visited the Pioneer Settlement, with almost 2000 of that number local residents.

A total 2680 people enjoyed the Heartbeat of the Murray lightshow, while 2550 cruised the Murray River aboard the PS Pyap.

Pioneer Settlement general manager Jessica Warburton said it was great to be part of the town-wide event.

“The pure joy on children’s faces as they spotted a dinosaur for the first time was priceless and is why we all love being part of tourism,” Ms Warburton said.

“All of our venues saw an increase in patronage this school holidays – which is absolutely fantastic.”

Children were invited to collect stamps as they visited each of the attractions during the school holidays for a chance to win Swan Hill shopping dollar vouchers, thanks to Swan Hill Inc. Just under 200 entries to the competition were received.
