AMAZINGLY, it’s been 1090 days since the last champions were crowned – and from tomorrow afternoon onwards, the premiership reign of Woorinen will finally be over.
Who would have thought that when the final siren blew that day, giving Woorinen a heart-stopping, six-point win over a devastated Mallee Eagles – and coupled with their A Grade netballer’s securing a four-goal win over Swan Hill – that it would be the last time for three years we would all be back at the Swan Hill Showgrounds, with a heaving crowd screaming their hearts out for their club and willing them to victory.
But as of tomorrow, we’ll all be back there – rain, hail or shine. And while the weather gods may or may not be shining on us, the most important thing is that local sport is back bigger and better than ever. The events of the past two years are now distant memories and tomorrow is our first opportunity to create new ones.
All clubs will get the chance to play for that long sought-after silverware and whole communities will once again descend on the Showgrounds for their chance to witness – perhaps – history in the making.
Good luck to everyone competing, may your day be a safe, enjoyable and successful one!
