Church notes

Anglican

AS Anglicans in Australia, we are “in communion with the Church of England”, of which Queen Elizabeth was the Supreme Governor.

As such, we give thanks for her commitment to service, living out her life-long faith in Jesus Christ.

We pray for her family, especially Charles, who is now King.

At a local level, we are gathering names to staff one of the gates at the Swan Hill Show. Please call the office if you can help.

Tomorrow the boot sale resumes after the hall floors have been resealed.

Come along for a look and a chat while you buy a bargain or enjoy the barbecue or morning tea.

Also tomorrow, the Rev Denis Gell will participate in the rededication of the war memorial at Ultima at 11am. All welcome.

Grain Shed

AS we reflect on the passing of the Queen, even though we may not have known her personally, she has been present in our lives in so many ways. Today, turning on the television, we learn more about her life, her beliefs, her passions, her Corgis and so on.

What stands out was her faith as she stood firmly on the rock with God as her guiding light throughout her entire life and time reigning.

‘Your word is a lamp for my feet, a light on my path.’ Psalm 119:105 NIV.

Let us pray for her family, King Charles III, as he now takes on his new official duties, may God be his confidant and guiding light and to all those who are grieving around the world.

School holidays start tonight and our Grain Shed Youth meet at 7pm for an op shop formal to end the term. Party time is in the air. Thanks again to Liz and Tom who do such an amazing and great job leading in this space.

Sunday 10am, Pastor Jodi will be on the platform sharing a message with us and to get some insight, have a read of Luke 4:1-12.

Stay around afterwards for a drink and biscuit in fellowship. There will be no Grainshed Kids inhouse during the holidays but our Think Orange program can be found on our Facebook Grain Shed Church page and for regulars in your emails.

Let’s bring joy to some children around the world who are less fortunate than us by participating in the Operation Christmas Child Appeal.

Shoeboxes are available here at the Grain Shed, so come and pick up a box or two, there is a list available with guidelines on what can and can’t be put in. Once filled, drop them back to the Grain Shed. It is that simple.
