ANGLICAN
LAST Sunday, following the later service at 11am, about 50 people gathered for lunch in the function centre to bid farewell blessings upon our Rector, Ven Peter, Jeannette and Rev Rae King.
Their four years of ministry to the combined parish centres has been quite amazing to look back on through the difficulties from COVID.
Churchwarden Ian Newland’s tribute listed so many achievements despite periods of isolation and restructuring for which we are all so grateful, especially for Jeannette’s ministry of music and Rae’s quiet prayerfulness.
The Wednesday congregation (also known as the the “Midweek Mob”) were asked last Wednesday to name any highlights from those events.
One much appreciated was the emailing and hand delivery of Peter’s weekly reflections and COVIDSafe visiting to shut-ins from many among the congregation.
Rev Denis has wonderfully shared this ministry and will be continuing to enrich our knowledge of the Scriptures in preparation for the appointment of a new Rector of the Parish.
On August 28, Archdeacon George Hemmings will lead the service, and will answer any questions about this process at its conclusion.
Peter’s new role will involve much travelling to isolated regions to encourage the scattered Christians increasingly without their familiar parish church.
His base will remain in this area, so the family will be pleased to greet friends made here during his years as Rector of Christ Church and District.
Please note there will be no boot sale this month as the parquetry flooring in the function centre is to be stripped down and re-surfaced, so no through traffic for the coming two weeks.
People might consider hosting a few friends at home for coffee after Wednesday and Sunday services. We managed this well during restricted visiting during COVID.
GRAIN SHED
HOW exciting for our Grain Shed youth as they take off on their camp this weekend.
Be encouraged to pray for the leaders and all the youth taking part. May this be an awesome experience together while keeping safe, having fun and that God speaks into the lives of these youth in transformative ways.
‘For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.’ John 3:16.
Many thanks to all who have so generously supported youth for this event and also for the other great activities they are doing throughout the year.
This Sunday 10am, come along and hear Pastor La’Mont as he continues with the second part in his new series and if you haven’t already, go to the growth group desk and join one, this will have you connecting later in the week with others while discussing the sermon.
At 9.45am, our Grainshed desk opens for all children from three years old to Grade 6. We are learning more about God and His amazing creation and as I write this I am treated to one of his masterpieces, a magnificent rainbow that I could nearly touch. Spectacular.
Monday is mainly music and our check in desk is open from 9.15am. This is a wonderful interactive music program for parents/carers/grandparents with littlies not at school. A great way also to meet other families.
Wednesday 2pm is our Church Bible Study time in room one. Open to all so come along and be part of this hour’s study.
Thursday at 10am we have a lovely group of ladies coming to their craft group.
Save the date: Sunday, August 28 – sharing hope at the Grain Shed, 10am.
