Playground fire

POLICE are investigating a small fire at a Swan Hill playground.

Police and firefighters were called to The Grain Shed on King Street on August 7 to find the playground alight.

The fire caused minor damage.

Takeaway for dinner

AN unattended stove has been blamed for sparking a house fire in Swan Hill.

Emergency services attended the fire at a home in Thurla Street, Swan Hill on August 5.

“The cause was cooking on the stove being left unattended,” a police spokesperson said.

Driver hits fence

A DRIVER accidentally hit the accelerator, crashing through a fence in Swan Hill last week.

Police said the driver hit the accelerator instead of the brake and damaged a fence in a car park on McCrae Street at about 11.30am on August 5.

The driver and passenger were not injured.

Ram raid bid

A VEHICLE was used to force entry to a Nyah West business last Friday.

Police said the vehicle caused significant damage to the front door and window of the IGA store on Monash Avenue.

It appears nothing was stolen, police said.

Air rifle arrest

POLICE have arrested a man after officers allegedly found an air rifle leaning against a wall at a Swan Hill property.

Officers attended an address on August 5 for an unrelated matter when they found the firearm.

The firearm was seized and a 51-year-old male was arrested and interviewed in relation to possessing a firearm without a licence and associated firearm offences.

Home invasion

A PHONE and wallet were allegedly stolen when an intruder entered a Robinvale home via an unlocked door.

The incident happened just after midnight on August 6.

The occupants of the Nicholls Road home were asleep at the time.
