A FAMILY’S search for a missing grandmother has ended with the tragic discovery of her body near Wycheproof.
Colleen South, 58, from South Australia, was reported missing on June 30. Her car was found crashed in a ditch at Bunguluke on July 3.
CCTV footage later emerged showing her buying petrol at Berriwillock earlier that day.
Her belongings, including medicine, a purse, keys and clothes were found about 20m from the locked vehicle. Less than two weeks ago, her mobile phone was found, without its SIM card, at Port Noarlunga in South Australia.
Police had not been treating the disappearance as suspicious and the official search was eventually scaled back. Ms South’s family continued their own search efforts until Monday’s discovery by a farmer.
Police confirmed that Ms South’s body was found in a paddock about 5km from the crash site on Monday afternoon.
Loved ones said on a Facebook page dedicated to finding her that “we are heartbroken and in shock”.
“We don’t have any answers on what has happened yet, but we will update you all once we do,” wrote Courtney Rose.
“Fly high our beautiful angel.”
