100 days of school is a ton of fun

FOUNDATION students from St Mary’s Primary School, Swan Hill Primary School, Swan Hill North Primary School and Lake Boga Primary School have celebrated their 100th day of schooling this year.

In what has now become a much-loved tradition for the schools, the students shared a day of activities that revolve around the number 100.

“It’s all about celebrating the number 100,” Swan Hill North Primary School teacher Stacey Lloyd said.

“They’re obviously at the start of their education journey, and this helps incorporate the number into their activities.”

In separate events, the schools celebrated with students dressing up as centenarians or in the theme of the number 100.

“They are all so cute, and it’s great to see them enjoying themselves,” Ms Lloyd said.

Swan Hill North Primary School foundation teacher Jacqui Scott helped coordinate the day and was ecstatic the kids had finally been together for a sustained period of time.

“After the last two years … celebrating 100 consecutive days together today is a bit of a milestone,” Ms Scott said.

Activities continued throughout the day that was both fun and helped the students in their math learning.

“We gave them 100 cups to do some stacking activities; they made necklaces with 100 Fruit Loops on them and all counting based around the number 100,” Ms Lloyd said.

Both students and teachers equally loved Wednesday’s event.

“I really enjoyed doing the fun colouring in activity,” foundation student Tess Woodburn said.

Classmate Cooper Smith said his favourite part of the day was making fairy bread.

Foundation teacher Janelle Hogan was delighted to see the pleasure the day brought the kids.

“The students all came in with a smile on their faces and some amazing costumes,” she said

“It’s wonderful to see them enjoying their day of fun with their peers and celebrating achieving 100 days of schooling.”

The students at St Mary’s were joined by their teachers in the dress department as the staff sported ‘I survived 100 days’ shirts.

The kids were lucky enough to receive one more extra special treat with McDonald’s for lunch.
