Festive lunch a big hit

THE Nyah District Lions Club staged a free Christmas in July lunch for 28 senior current and past members of the district last Tuesday.

This provided an opportunity for those who lived alone or are isolated to rekindle old friendships.

The Nyah West Bowling Club was suitably decorated for the occasion by club members.

Members of the Lions club cooked a full roast dinner followed by either plum pudding and custard or trifle.

Lions club members waited on the guests.

The day provided an opportunity for many of these people to catch up with people that they had not seen for several years.

The two eldest attendees, Norma Jenkins and Keith Burrage, both aged 89, were invited to cut the Christmas cake.

Lions club president Mary Heap coordinated the days activities and welcomed all those in attendance.
