LAKE Boga proved their versatility as coach Anna Archie made a number of positional changes during their 57-43 win over Woorinen at home on Saturday.
Archie moved the magnets around, experimenting with players in different roles, with the Hepburn sisters in the ring the only two to stay in their original positions for the entire game.
“We were able to capitalise on a progressive game and make quite a few positional changes and rest a couple of players who haven’t yet had time off,” the Pies playing coach said.
“It was nice to be able to have a bit of a refreshing mix for the game.”
The Pies looked in control from the start, going in to the first break with a six goal lead and then finding themselves 11 goals up by half-time.
But Woorinen lifted after the break, preventing the result from blowing out and only letting the Pies extend their lead by another two goals in the third term and matching them in the last to eventually go down by 14.
It was a resilient performance by the Tigers, who had some big outs due to COVID in Tessa Demaria and playing coach Olivia Jones.
Under the leadership of assistant coach Gabe Mudge, the Tigers kept their heads up throughout the match, but lacked the experience on the court, having four juniors come up to have a taste of senior netball.
“The girls fought hard all day creating plenty of turnovers, but unfortunately we’re not capitalising on all opportunities,” Mudge said.
This week Lake Boga will take on Kerang in what should be an easy win for the Pies.
Meanwhile, Woorinen will host Tyntynder in Round 16. Sitting in 8th and 9th positions, spectators should expect the battle between the Tigers and the Dogs to be a competitive one.
