FISH found dead on the Lake Boga foreshore likely died due to a drop in water temperature, according to Goulburn-Murray Water (GMW).
Shocked readers made the discovery last Friday and Saturday between the sailing club and powerboat club.
Toundy Bannam said there were a few that she found on the water’s edge, with birds having a “field day”.
“They were either brim or reddies form what I could tell, all very similar size,” she said.
GMW water delivery services general manager Warren Blyth said it was investigating the water quality.
“We do not believe the water quality at the storage has been the cause of any fish deaths,” he said.
“Fish kill can occur naturally due to changes in the weather and lower water temperatures.
“GMW frequently tests the quality of water at all its storages and publishes alerts if the water quality levels are likely to pose a health risk.”
