ANGLICAN

GOD is patient; he sent his spirit among us at Pentecost, which was celebrated again two weeks ago.

On that day, the Anglican Parish of Swan Hill, together with many past clergy and parishioners, and Bishop Matt, gathered at All Saints, Nyah West to celebrate and give thanks for its 100 years of continuous ministry.

The thought of “All Saints” was very much upon everyone, as the faithful lives of all who had worshipped there through the century were lovingly remembered and celebrated in the communion of saints, past, present and emerging, with the presence among us of Anglican priest and Wadi Wadi artist, Aunty Robyn Davis.

Next Tuesday night, the date will show the winter solstice has arrived with the shortest daylight hours of this year. After this, our curtains will start to fade with the gradual increase of daylight minutes, yes?

A bit of nonsense will sometimes bring on a follow up of serious reflection.

The world has experienced much in the past two years to give people pause for thought. Many have come to appreciate the enforced changes, perhaps redirecting their thoughts, but one thing is constant: God’s cycle of renewal.

Floods, fires, and droughts reshape the planet, but human history hasn’t appeared to reshape the nature of mankind.

However, amid the pandemic, natural disasters and wars, wonderful acts of kindness and compassion are all around us, and for these we give thanks.

GRAIN SHED

HOW lovely it was to see so many people in Swan Hill this weekend. It was so refreshing after the past couple of years as it gives hope that there is light at the end of the COVID tunnel and for the planning of future events taking place.

‘Rejoice in hope, be patient in tribulation, be constant in prayer.’ Romans 12:12.

Pastor La’Mont has been preaching for the past two weeks on knowing God and this coming Sunday, at 10am, he will be finishing this series with Integrity – the Biblical fair dinkum person.

If you haven’t already seen the previous ones, be encouraged to go online and watch Identification and Intimacy on Grain Shed Church YouTube page and gain understanding in these foundational issues in Christian discipleship. Helping you grow and see new heights in your journey with Christ.

Safe church awareness workshop is taking place here this weekend and is a prerequisite for all who volunteer in the church. This is a training that ensures that you are able to create a safe place for everyone.

Tonight is refresher course for those who have already done the full workshop before, and tomorrow, 9.30am to 4pm, the workshop with Church of Christ Victoria and Tasmania. Registration is necessary and can be done online on the CCVT website or by contacting reception on Friday.

Friday night 7pm youth meet at 6.30pm for dinner followed by Youth Alpha ‘Faith – How can I have Faith?’

Monday is the last session of mainly music for term two. A teddy bears picnic, which will be lots of fun for not only the little ones but the big ones too. 9.30am-11am.

Craft ladies are back Thursday 10am with many projects on the go.
