The 19th Hole

MURRAY DOWNS LADIES

Fifty-two ladies braved the icy conditions for the stableford event at Murray Downs on Wednesday, with Clare Nalder-Martin leading the way with a creditable 38 points from her 28 handicap, to win Division 2 from Jenice Krahnert (28) on 36 points, while in Division 1, Jenny Ford (23) scored 36 points to win on a count back from Maralyn Morrison (26) and Lyn Merrett (22). Judi Lonergan scored four on the par five 12th hole to collect the birdies nest.

Lyn Merrett led the ball pool, with Michelle Holt and Olive Spitty next best on 35. Marg Moore, Maree Thurwood, Lyn Merrett and Jenny Ford were the NTP winners.

Paula Pickert collected the June Monthly medal last week, continuing her good form to put together Saturday’s best score. Her 71 nett from her 16 handicap was one shot clear of Belinda Gardner, who has been consistently reducing her handicap this season and is now on 30. Jill McIndoe, 73 and both Sarah Clark and Joan Foster, both 74, led the ball pool.

Ruth McAlister, Paula Pickert, Sheila Beard and Sarah Clark hit the most accurate shots to the par threes. A busy schedule of golf is looming for the rest of the month, with the Swintons 4BBB on Sunday, June 19 to be followed by the prestigious Silver and Golden Putter’s on June 23 and 24.
