Police beat June 10

Balaclava thief identified

A MAN was arrested and charged after entering a Swan Hill retail store at about 2.30pm on June 5 and taking a balaclava without paying for it.

Shop staff contacted police, who later located the man.

Showgrounds break-in

SOMEONE gained entry to a fire storage shed in Swan Hill in the past three weeks.

Police said nothing appeared to have been stolen from the facility at the showgrounds during the incident, which happened some time between May 19 and June 2.

Close call with handbag

POLICE are reminding people to be mindful of their property after a close call with a forgotten handbag on June 3.

A woman was having a coffee outside a Beveridge Street cafe when she forgot to take her handbag with her after picking up her shopping, and when she returned she found her handbag was gone.

She initially checked at the nearby shops, but the bag had not been handed in.

Luckily, the woman received a phone call from one of the shops the next day saying her bag had been found and nothing was missing from it.
