What a wonderful day for bowls

There was a little chill in the air during the morning, but conditions soon turned perfect at the Swan Hill All Abilities regional bowls day recently.

Swan Hill College Sport and Rec. students, club volunteers and staff from Bowls Victoria and Bowls Australia supported 61 participants and 30 staff and carers to play Lawn Bowls and Jack Attack Bowls on the day.

Participants of all abilities were from Swan Hill Specialist School (27), Swan Hill Shire (3), Vivid Living (1), Echuca Discoveries – Swan Hill (17) and Echuca Discoveries (13).

Congratulations to all involved for providing encouragement and camaraderie to all participant.

This provided a friendly, welcoming and inclusive environment for all attending and there were many smiling faces. The Swan Hill Racecourse Bowls Club is well known for being an inclusive club with a wonderful venue and dedicated volunteers and prior to this event, the Swan Hill Racecourse Bowls Club volunteers, Swan Hill College Sport and Rec. students attended Disability Awareness workshops delivered by Mallee Sports Assembly, which helped to provide a greater understanding of modifying sport so everyone could play both Lawn Bowls or Jack Attack Bowls at the event.

The day wouldn’t have been the success it was without the assistance of the many club volunteers, sport and recreation students, carers and staff supporting the participants on the day – with many keen bowlers amongst the group.
