THE Mallee Eagles had a convincing 79-42 win over Tyntynder on Saturday.
The Eagles were in control of the game from the start, going into the first break 15 goals up and continuing to grow their lead from there.
With Eagles defender Claire Allan out, Laura Fay stepped up to play with Meg Allan in their defensive goal circle, applying a lot of pressure to Tyntynder’s goalies Tess Denham and Sarah Hawley.
Down the other end of the court, Dogs defenders Maddy Gleeson and Nicola Miliano put up a good fight, but weren’t strong enough to stop experienced shooter Kellie Walker.
Eagles midcourter Alicia Harvey also had a great day on the court, taking many intercepts to turn the play around in the Eagles’ favour.

NNW United bounce back
AFTER a tough loss against Balranald last week, Nyah Nyah West United have bounced back against Tooleybuc-Manangatang, winning 65-59.
IT was pretty close throughout the match, with the first quarter scores ending up level. However, the Demons got in front by half-time, blowing their lead out to 10 goals in the third quarter, before eventually getting the win by six goals.
With Zoe Gray and Shania Decker out for the week, Gretchen Skinner and Janene Thompson appeared to effortlessly slide into the Demons’ defensive line-up.
The Saints played a very defensive game, applying a lot of pressure to the Demons right down the court, but particularly in the goal circle. However Demons goal attack Bridie Curran was up to the challenge, playing a great game in the circle.
Playing coach Laura Anderson said Curran put into practice what they had been working on in training, and this paid off well.

Swan Hill dominate Raiders
WITH the second rung of the A Grade ladder in Swan Hill taking on bottom side Koondrook-Barham on Saturday, it was always going to be a hard day for the bottom-placed team, with the final score ending up at 87-21 in Swan Hill’s favour.
The Raiders were left playing catch-up from the beginning of the match, scoring just two goals to Swan Hill’s 22 in the first quarter.
Their deficit got worse from there until the final buzzer went, when Swan Hill were 66 goals ahead.
Swan Hill’s midcourt applied a lot of pressure to the Raiders, working hard defensively to turn ball over and give their shooters Casey Frame and Ingrid Condely lots of opportunities to score.
The shooters made use of these ample opportunities, being accurate throughout the game.
