Season opening for Lakeside Golf Club

LAKESIDE Golf Club at Lake Boga sprang to life for a new season last Sunday with a two-person Ambrose event. The much awaited event had a healthy contingent of golfers contesting all trying to secure a first up win.

The men’s competition was taken out by Greg Cruikshank and Colin Free with a score of 66 nett. Jean Youl and Bec Humphryis secured the Ladies event with a score of 73.25 nett. Runners up in the men’s competition were Wayne Wisby and Andrew Guy with a score of 67.25 nett. Ladies runners-up were D. Henderson and D. Free who scored 76 nett. Longest and Straightest Drive awards were also handed out after play.

A huge golf club clean-up day involving club volunteers preceded the season opening event.

The season will progress now with the Men’s competition being staged on Sundays and the Ladies competition taking place on Wednesdays.

Club stalwart Greg Cruickshank told The Guardian the course was in overall good condition.

“The T boxes have been well watered and manicured over the Summer but the fairways are very dry, we are looking forward to rain” he said
