MIDWEEK pennant concluded on Tuesday and congratulations go to our two teams on taking out the premierships in both Division 1 and Division 2, which is a tremendous achievement. Murray Downs 1 in Division 1 played against Murray Downs 2, where a game of great sportsmanship was displayed.
Team 1 came away with the win by six shots in a very close game, while Murray Downs 3 played against Racecourse 4 in Division 2 and were victorious by 28 shots.
Well done to all teams on another successful season by Murray Downs bowlers.
Last Saturday’s preliminary final at Cohuna saw our Northern Valley Division 1 team go down to Cohuna Golf by four shots in a very good game that went down to the last end on the day to decide the outcome.
Our Division 1 Murray Valley team played Lake Boga and were victorious by 10 shots and have progressed to the grand final on Saturday where they will play Moulamein.
Our Division 3, team 3 side, who went straight through to the grand final, will also play on Saturday against Tooleybuc, with the grand finals being played at the Swan Hill Bowls Club.
It would be great to see as many of the Murray Downs supporters there to cheer them on.
After Saturday’s grand finals there will be a barbecue dinner at the John Mayers Pavilion, starting around 6.30pm.
Everyone is welcome, so please come along to celebrate the end of a great pennant season and hopefully another two premierships.

LAKE BOGA
CONGRATULATIONS go to all clubs competing in Saturday’s pennant grand finals.
While Lake Boga had three teams in the preliminary finals, unfortunately none made it through to the grand final.

Well done to our club for having three sides make it to the penultimate day of the season.
This week we have seen the finals of our club pairs for both the men’s and ladies, with Danny Kelly and Rod Dewhurst finishing as the men’s club champions after defeating Allan Treble and David Condey.
Barbara Lewis and Laural Dewhurst are the ladies champions after a close game against Robyn Jolley and Lyn Maher, which is a great effort for Barbara, who is a first year player.
Barefoot bowls next week will see the first of three charity fundraisers, the first being a Red Cross night and will be followed by a fire brigade and motor neurone charity night.

TOOLEYBUC
PRELIMINARY final day at Murray Downs presented itself with windy and warm conditions last Saturday, with the day starting early due to the hot conditions forecasted.
Tooleybuc players arrived with determination to reverse the previous weekends efforts and hit the ground running with some in-form bowls against Lake Boga 2.
All three rinks got off to an early start and going into the 10 minute break, had the lead over Lake Boga.
At the end of the game, Tooleybuc held onto a very comfortable lead and managed to win all three rinks, with the final result seeing Tooleybuc defeat Lake Boga 87-49.
Tooleybuc will now meet Murray Downs 3 in the grand final to be played at Swan Hill Bowls Club on Saturday, with good luck to all bowling on grand final day.
