Lake Boga businesses make Christmas brighter for Uniting Church

LAKE Boga businesses will be making the community’s Christmas a little bit brighter this year by collecting donations to give to the Uniting Church.

Kate Fielder, owner of the Lake Boga Post Office, spearheaded the initiative.

“As well as the post office, the Lake Boga Pharmacy, Lake Boga Newsagency and Commercial Hotel Lake Boga have all come on board as collection points,” Ms Fielder said.

“I came up with the idea because it’s been a really tough year – or two – for everyone, and it would be nice to have a Christmas charity drive for the locals, by the locals, which stays local.”

Ms Fielder said the response from the community had been positive, with gifts for children, but even some presents for adults donated.

“It was decided that the Uniting Church would be a good organisation to donate to, and they can distribute the gifts however they see fit,” Ms Fielder said.

“It’s been great to be able to give a helping hand.”

The donations will be given to the church on Friday, December 10.
