Artists MASH out their talents

MALLEE Artists of Swan Hill are proudly displaying their works with an exhibition at the Balranald gallery showcasing the talents of all members.

The exhibition will run for six weeks from February 7 with afternoon tea provided by Balranald’s country hospitality allowing those who attend the opening to feel at home.

Formed in 2001, Mallee Artists of Swan Hill (Mash) was created for artists in the Swan Hill community to connect and extend their skills in workshops and activities through each members individual expertise.

The group is based in the Woorinen South Community Centre Hall.

They meet every Wednesday at 9.30am to form new creations and socialise with each other throughout the morning.

Their latest AGM elected a new president Gail Groat, treasurer Val Waylan and secretary Lorri Lambert

Once a month members gather for a coffee at a local cafe where they plan their exhibitions and activities at rural galleries and art shows around the area including Cohuna, Balranald, Pyramid Hill and Moulamein.

Each month on the first Wednesday a member is chosen to run a workshop to highlight an interest or new technique, with February’s ‘Torn newspaper landscape’ taught by members Maxine and Val.

Their upcoming events this year include the Woorinen South Community project, ‘Brush and Brew’ workshops to encourage beginning artists and visits to local places of interests.
