PREMIERSHIP favourites Lake Boga maintained their unbeaten start with a dominant 33-goal win over fellow finals aspirant Woorinen.

While the Magpies won every quarter, it was the second term where the damage was done by scoring an astonishing 17 goals to three in an assertive 15 minutes of play.

Lake Boga assistant coach Sheridan Harrop said the 67-34 victory was a good reward for effort.

Harrop was as pleased with her team’s defensive capabilities as she was with their attacking dominance.

“We had great defensive pressure and created many turnovers, we gained a lot of strength feeding into our attack end and our goalies looked comfortable,” Harrop said.

“We settled early and didn’t get distracted and just played our game, we’re really happy with how this team continues to progress each week.”

While disappointed with the result, Woorinen coach Tayla Bennett was hopeful her new playing group would now be better placed ahead of a long season.

This Saturday’s match against Balranald will be their next big assignment.

“We’ll take a lot from that game and that’s what happens when you play a top side,” Bennett said.

“Our girls, being a new working group, proved that we have a bit to go and fine tune before we play them again later in the season.

“We made lots of rotations and got a lot of the ball, but just didn’t capitalise when we needed to.”

The Tigers were well served by their defensive end, with Courtney Lolicato, Rachel McLaughlin and Tessa Demaria their better players, while Emma Peacock and Taigan O’Shannassy were the best for Lake Boga.
