School revved up for revamp

SWAN Hill North Primary School will be one of the schools set to receive major upgrades, according to the state budget.

The $8.9 million of upgrade works are expected to start taking place by the end of this year.

Principal Brea Terris said they were excited to hear that Swan Hill North PS was on the list of schools to receive an allocation of funds.

“Over the last year, school staff had been identifying the educational needs and priorities of the school,” Ms Terris said.

“Through our asset management master plan, documents were developed.

“We are very excited with the announcement of funding to progress to the next stage.”

The funding will allow Swan Hill North Primary School to have certain areas of the school rebuilt.

“This allows us to have state-of-the-art facilities to match the teaching and learning programs that we offer at the school,” Ms Terris said.

Ms Terris said community contribution would be inspiring the upgrades.

“Students, staff and community were able to express what was important for them in the new build,” MS Terris said.

“There will be a focus on modernising classrooms, the admin area and the multipurpose space.

“To be able to have a school with these facilities in Swan Hill is amazing for the whole community.”

Ms Terris said they are looking forward to unveiling the plans to the community officially now that they had received the necessary funding.

The large-scale construction project will be the first major redevelopment of the school, which opened in 1959.
