There’s one goal uniting the Bears in 2024 – getting both their top teams out of the cellar and into the finals action.
The footballers propped up the LV seniors ladder and have turned to a new coaching panel to turn that around.
And so have the netballers, who after a winless 2023 season, have pulled off a major coup, signing Danielle O’Toole, the 2023 A-grade best and fairest at powerhouse Marong, to help them net a few victories.
It was perhaps the league’s biggest off-season deal – and it will be a true test for O’Toole to drag the Bears back into the competition.
Key players for the BLS line-up include Elyssa Hartland, a dual best and fairest winner at the club.
A big pre-season for the Bears has included sessions at Gurri Wanyarra in Kangaroo Flat, F45 Bendigo, and Body Fit.
The club’s coaching panel is Danielle O’Toole, A-grade; Lara Clements, B-grade; Nicky James, C-grade; Kylie Addlem, C-reserve; Sarah Perry, 17-and-under; Kiera Ellis, 15-and-under; Ash Long and Jess Penny, 13-and-under; Ava Francis, Minis.
Another key appointment was Amber Gibson as junior development coach.
The Bears are on their court at Gadsden Finance Serpentine Reserve on April 13 to face Pyramid Hill in round one.
