Thieves raid cricket club

POLICE have appealed for information about a burglary at the Robinvale Cricket Club that caused damage to its clubrooms.

The break-in occurred on Robin Street between October 20 and 21, and there was extensive damage to the building’s windows, doors and locks.

Representatives from at the Robinvale Euston Rangers Cricket Club said the perpetrator/s had stolen $700 cash from the till and had caused upwards of $600 in damage to the club’s facilities.

“We went to clean up the club and noticed that money was missing from the tills, then we noticed the smashed windows and the locks broken off the doors,” they said.

“We have now repaired the damage at a cost to us.”

They said this was the only time they had been broken into and it had a significant impact on the community club.

“It’s a small club and it’s just another thing that we will have to save money for. Unfortunately, we will probably never get that money back,” they said.

“We used to just trust that everything would be in order but now it makes you want to go and check everything is still there every day.”

“If you’ve heard anything, please come forward.”

Robinvale Police said their investigations were ongoing and they were yet to find a suspect.

They appealed for the community’s help.

“We are always very appreciative of the community’s help, they help us a bucket-load,” a spokesperson said.

“We just had someone call in recently and helped us in relation to the theft of an antique light at Tresco.”

Anyone with information is being urged to call Robinvale police station or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
