The much-awaited appearance by legendary Australian music icon, Ross Wilson drew a near-capacity crowd to the Swan Hill Town Hall last Saturday night.
Warmed up by Canadian songstress Meghan Maike, the crowd was ready to rock when Wilson took to the stage, belting out hits from the early part of his musical career in the late 60s through to some more recent work.
As a part of his Now Listen, We’re Steppin’ Out tour, Wilson said the show was something of a personal music history.
“Daddy Cool, Mondo Rock, a few solo things and a few surprises,” he said.
“We try to fit in as much as we can of songs that people know and hopefully love.
“It’s always fun because I only do songs that I like, Mondo Rock had a lot of albums and many hits but I’m only singing the biggest ones.
“The band is really great, with some of the best players in Melbourne.”
Hits such as Chemistry, Eagle Rock, Come Said The Boy echoed through the concert hall as people got up and danced to the hits of their generation.
A standing ovation got the group back out to finish off with three more songs including, of course, Daddy Cool.
“Daddy Who, Daddy Cool!”
