Robertson brothers return

THE talented duo of Geoff and Ben Robertson, and guests, return to Swan Hill next Thursday with their popular ’60s variety show.

Ben Robertson said it was important to remember they weren’t doing the same show each year, but a completely new line-up just in a similar format.

“When the audience walks in, they are transported to Channel 7 way back in the 1960s,” Mr Robertson said.

“There are lots of cameras and there are big screens, and Geoff and I are your TV hosts.

“We are also the singers and we have special guests that come on and sing with us as well.

“This year we have Simon Brooke McLachlan who was Frankie Valli in the Jersey Boys production.

“There are lots of TV ads and a game show.

“We like to promote it as being very different.

“It’s not just a few guys turning up and singing a few covers, it really is like a TV show.”

ARIA Award winners, The Robertson brothers are best known for singing the theme song for Home and Away.

They had been doing an Everly Brothers tribute show and enjoyed doing the music from the ’60s.

It was then that they had, as they describe it, a crazy idea to do this TV show.

“We have been doing the show for five years and it has just been going gangbusters for us,” Mr Robertson said.

“We are doing 110 shows a year and it’s packed everywhere we go.”

The Robertson Brothers 60s Variety TV Show will be at the Swan Hill Town Hall on Thursday, August 31 at 7.30pm.
