RACECOURSE

BRIAN Quaife (Swan Hill), Neil Roberts and Ian Lockhart were the winners on a countback of our social bowls, held on Sunday, July 1, with Norm Smith, Kevin Vivian and Max Parsons finishing as runners-up.

We held our Taverna Funerals Triples with 20 teams entering from all across the region.

The only three-game winners were David Jonkers (Lake Boga), Neil Roberts and Marg Smith, with 74 points, while the runners-up, with two wins, a draw and 66 points, were Norm Smith, Max Renney and Jeanie Leach (Lake Boga).

Doug Fisher (Murray Downs) and Kylie Gardner finished in third place with 64 points.

There were very good numbers who turned out to play social bowls on Wednesday, with Allan Marshman (Swan Hill), Rob Rust and Max Renney claiming victory with two games and +20 shots. Runners-up, with one win and +11 shots, were Bryan Bice, Noel Delmenico (Murray Downs) and Bob McIntosh.

This Sunday we will have our Renney Family Triples tournament, with the event starting at 12.30pm and casual dress attire.

SWAN HILL

LAST Friday saw a good roll-up for Friday Frolic, with 20 bowlers enjoying a friendly game and visitors from neighbouring clubs welcomed with open arms.

The jackpot is on the climb, with no team coming up and the lucky number possibly reaching $100 today.

Remember, everyone that participates in Friday Frolic will have a chance of winning both bowls and the jackpot, but make sure your name is in the draw by 2.30pm and be ready to start play by 3pm.

All are welcome to join in, with no experience necessary and bowls are available for anyone wishing to give it a try.

It is pleasing to see others, who are not participating in the game, coming along and joining in the social side of the afternoon, whether it be for a happy hour drink, a hot tea or coffee and a snack, as well as a friendly chat.

Mick’s raffle draws create quite a bit of banter as to who will take home the meat trays, wine, chocolates or one of the many other prizes on offer.

Please note in your diaries the Swan Hill Bowls Club opening day, any-combination triples on Sunday, August 27, which will also be combined with our RSL Diggers day.

Play will start at 12.30pm, with excellent prizemoney on offer, with an RSL representative to conduct an opening ceremony prior to play commencing.
