IT was all smiles for the red, white and blue, with Tyntynder claiming consecutive premierships in the CVFL junior girls football competition at Woorinen on Sunday.
Having won the inaugural season in 2022, the young Bulldogs followed it up by claiming their second title, defeating Swan Hill by 47 points.
Played in front of a large crowd, Tyntynder led from start to finish, with a four-goal first half giving the Doggies a 26-point lead at half time.
The Swans soon found their stride, with a couple of goals lifting hopes of a comeback – but that was quickly shut down with Tyntynder kicking three final-quarter goals to come away with a 9.10 (64) to 2.5 (17) victory.
The Bulldogs’ Hollie Everett won the medal for best on ground.
Tyntynder coach Max Carroll was full of praise after the game, not only for the players from all teams in the competition, but for the large and well-behaved crowd that was in attendance on a day solely set aside for female football.
“It’s a wonderful atmosphere and great to see a big crowd here, which is fantastic,” Carroll said.
“Our girls played exceptionally well and the improvement that they’ve made throughout the year has been amazing.
“Being involved in junior sport in general is always very rewarding, but after coaching the girls last year I now find myself going over to the netball on Saturday and supporting those same girls play, which I’ve never done before.
“I have a close bond with all of the kids out there and that’s because they are such a wonderful bunch of girls and are just fantastic to coach – I’m just very proud of them all.
“We try to foster a love of football and hopefully the girls will go on and play at a higher level – today is a great opportunity for them to sit back and watch the Woorinen teams play at that level and give them a vision of where they may end up.”
The under-15 girls grand final wasn’t the only match played, with all other under-12 and under-15 teams playing as a curtain raiser to the main event.
The Woorinen girls and women’s teams then followed, with the Tigers suffering a 38-point loss to White Hills in the under-18 girls, and the Woorinen women’s team flogging North Bendigo 17.18 (120) to no score.
