Swan Hill Hire national company of the year

It was a big week for the team at Swan Hill Hire at the end of May when they took eight of their 14 team members across to Sydney to attend the annual Hire and Rental Industry Association national convention and awards in Homebush.

The locally owned company received the industry’s highest accolade of National Hire Company of the Year (under $10 million) for 2023.

Supplying everything from a sledge hammer to an 24 metre boom lift and many things in between, including a flame thrower, the business has been recognised as the best in the country.

Swan Hill Hire owner Stuart King and general manager, Kayla Shadbolt, were a part of the delegation.

This is not the first time they have received the prestigious award having it bestowed in 2017, and being finalists in the same category in 2021.

Ms Shadbolt said that that it was amazing to be recognised for their high standards and hard work.

“Without the team and the enormous contributions we wouldn’t be where we are, so it is a credit to them to go the extra mile to be the best,” she said.

“Our suppliers are also an important aspect of the success along with the ongoing training and professional development the staff undertake.

“We can’t forget our customers have also been great in supporting us over the years and are the reason we are here.”

Mr King said that customers are often surprised, and in particular, those from out of town, as to the type of business they run.

“Clearly they are not used to that in other regional areas and even some metro hire companies,” he said.

“It is such a good thing that a regional business wins this type of award.

“I attribute the success to the people that work in the business and their desire and willingness to do what it takes to be the best in the industry.

“I’m really proud of Kayla and the rest of the team, and this award is a credit to them.

“We are one of several businesses in Swan Hill that have received national awards, so it is really great to see Swan Hill kicking some goals on the national stage.”
