Young Flyers taste success

SWAN Hill Flyers had a successful campaign at the Breach Apparel Bendigo Junior Classic, which was held during the Australia Day long weekend.

Four Flyers teams featured in grand finals for their divisions.

The under-18 girls brought home the chocolates as they defeated the Shepparton Gators by five points.

A standout player during the grand final was Ava Crow, with a staggering 24 points which guided the Flyers to the win.

For the other three finalists, the under-16 boys lost in heartbreaking fashion, losing by just one point.

Sam Brown did everything he could for the Flyers, having himself 24 points as well, but it just wasn’t enough as the Melton Thoroughbreds just held on.

For the under-14 boys, unfortunately they got smashed out of the park by 61 points against the Bendigo Braves.

Hamish Lawry was the top scorer for the Flyers with 10 points, but the boys can keep their heads up as they played very well to make it to the grand final in the first place.

The under-12 boys faced a similar fate as they lost to Geelong United by 22 points.

Judd O’Sullivan was the top scorer for the Flyers with 10 points, along with being named as the Most Valuable Player for the match, a fantastic achievement for the young athlete.
