Mega performance needed for Racecourse

TO keep their Northern Valley Premier League finals fate in their own hands, Racecourse will need to pull off an accomplishment that has not been completed by any team – defeating Cohuna Golf.

The ladder leaders have been a team that cannot be stopped, winning all 12 of their games in the home-and-away season.

Racecourse, who have been a bit behind for most of the season, now have the golden opportunity to make it to finals after pulling off two massive wins against Kerang last weekend and their finals-pushing rivals Murray Downs the weekend before.

Three points is the difference between third-placed Barham and Racecourse, who sit in fifth.

Racecourse will at least be hoping to just get some crucial points against Cohuna Golf.

Of course, the win would be nice and a massive achievement at that, but history shows that Cohuna Golf have been the better team in the past two match-ups between the two sides.

Cohuna Golf managed 23 points all up in those contests, to Racecourse’s one.

For Murray Downs, they face Kerang at the Kerang Bowling Club.

The Rams, who have had a fairly comfortable spot in the top four for the majority of the season, now find themselves in a tricky position, as their grip on finals starts to fall out of their favour.

Kerang will be hoping to have a better result after getting demolished by Racecourse last weekend.

In second spot, Kerang are still well placed for finals but a good performance could guarantee a strong position.

These two sides have won one game against each other, but Murray Downs have got more points with 16 all up to Kerang’s eight.

Barham will be hoping to hold onto their grip in the top four when they host Kerang Golf.

The match-up appears to have come at the perfect time for Barham to secure some much-needed points, with Kerang Golf not having a single win in the competition.

In the series between these two sides, Barham won both earlier match-ups and almost did so with the maximum points available (22 out of 24).
