Funds for cricket club upgrades

CRICKET clubs, associations and local governments are being invited to apply for the Australian Cricket Infrastructure Fund.

Applications for the 2023-24 funding round has now opened in Victoria, with grants available for a variety of cricket club facility improvements.

The grants are split into two categories based on the amount of funding.

For minor projects, $1000 to $15,000 was available. For major projects, $15,001 to $40,000 was available.

Funding could be obtained for up to 50 per cent of the project’s total cost.

Since the program’s launch in 2018, the Australian Cricket Infrastructure Fund has put more than $6.8 million towards a range of projects.

Last year Cricket Victoria funded upgrades at 85 cricket facilities across the state.

Cricket Victoria chief executive Nick Cummins said $1.3 million was invested in cricket facilities through the 2022-23 program.

“The Australian Cricket Infrastructure Fund continues to be a very successful program,” he said.

“At a national level, Victoria leads all states in terms of the number of applications received and investment that has been put back into clubs and facilities.

“Great facilities are essential in growing participation.

“Whether it’s revitalised nets or a pavilion given a new lease on life, these projects can have a transformative impact on a community club.”

The program aims to grow participation in the sport and promote greater access to all who want to play, watch or get involved in cricket.

Applications close March 24 and can be made online at www.cricketvictoria.com.au/clubs-support/grants.
