‘A lot of fun’ being Kylie

LUCY Holmes has been labelled the “best Kylie act” act in the world and she is bringing her meticulously produced concert experience back to Swan Hill on February 24.

Holmes has been endorsed by Minogue as the best, and although she has never met the megastar face to face, she has had many messages of support from the singer.

Holmes studied for a degree in musical theatre and has always been told she bears a striking resemblance to Minogue.

After performing a few Minogue numbers, she would get a few laughs and a good response.

Holmes said a big agent looked up all the tribute shows that were touring and found no one was doing a Kylie show before seeing her perform.

“So we thought we would give it a crack,” she said.

“I always thought I would end up in musicals, but then I realised this was kind of like a mini-Kylie musical.

“We started it and 21 years later it has taken us around the world numerous times and we still love doing it.”

Each concert includes up to 11 full replica costume changes representing hundreds of costume pieces, thousands of brightly coloured feathers and millions of Swarovski crystals, rhinestones, gems and sequins.

The music and dance show also brings a little comedy and is designed to appeal to all ages.

Holmes said that it was “pretty wild” when Minogue actually endorsed her show.

“It’s very rare, I think, for impersonators to have that so it was definitely a milestone moment,” she said.

“She is one of the most enduring artists of this generation, her career just goes from strength to strength.

“The great thing is that Kylie is having a resurgence with her last album charting so well and she also has her Vegas residency and she has just done a television special her career is going so well.

“It is so lovely to be able to homage to her success, it’s a lot of fun.

“It has been the greatest job of my life touring the world getting to experience just a tiny bit of the joy that she spreads is amazing.”

Tickets are available from Swan Hill Town Hall box office or online at www.swanhilltownhall.com
