SWAN HILL

THE Swan Hill Bowls Club’s 57th Autumn Carnival ended on Monday, with an any combination triples event, after 10 days of bowls.

Some bowlers bowled almost every day, heading back to their respective homes rather weary and some travelling from Warrnambool, Melbourne and Ballarat.

See below for some of this week’s results.

Today, Friday Frolic will be back on at the usual starting time of 3pm, enter your names by 2.30pm to be in the running for the jackpot, which is close to $200 and well worth having a crack at.

Also today, the fireys will be arriving to get the feel of our greens, ready for the annual Fireys v the Bush challenge tomorrow.

The draw is done and ready for a 10am start on Saturday.

Sunday will be a casual game beginning at 10am. Put your name in with Brian Richardson or Bill King if you would like to play – $20 a player, includes lunch.

Sunday, May 28 is RSL Diggers Day, which is an any combination triples, commencing with lunch at 11.30am and followed with an RSL stand to service and bowls – $25 per player with good prizemoney.

Tuesday, May 9

Ladies’ Fours

Winners: J.Curnow, G.Ritchie, M.Graham (Warrnambool), F.Fredrick (Birchip). Runners-up: D.Stickcombe, C.Dunstan, R.Strownix, A.Keating (Ballarat). Third: L.Liston, C.Mahony, A.Kelly, A.Batters (Ballarat).

Men’s Fours

Winners: B.Richardson (Swan Hill), G.Whitla (M. Downs), J.Hayes, B.Donovan (Ballarat). Runners-up – G.Ross, C.Meade, R.Mason, J.Keating (Ballarat). Third – N.Hender, L.Grey, M.Parsons, A.Jobling (Lake Boga).

Members please note, the Swan Hill Bowls Club annual meeting will be held at the clubhouse on Thursday, June 1 at 2pm. Your attendance would be appreciated.


LAKE BOGA

JACKPOT winners last Saturday were Peter Philp, Max Lord and Johnno Flood, while the runners-up were Ian Ross, Sally Meehan and Richard Bruton.

The jackpot will be $345 tomorrow, with names to be in by 12.30pm for 1pm start, single entries only.

We welcomed 27 players to Wednesday social bowls this week, with the winners being Barb Davies, Barrie Free and Terry Haw, and the runners-up Keith Anderson, Billy King, Richard Bruton and Ken Hamill.

On duty next week is Terry Haw and Lyn Maher, and the following week (May 31) is John Pye.

Our annual meeting was well attended and we welcome Grant Davies as our new president.

Lake Boga’s Biggest Morning Tea will be held at the bowling club on Monday, May 29 from 10am, please support this event with lots of competitions and two guest speakers.
