Wandella 2023 Netball Preview

WANDELLA A Grade coach Hayley Hird is looking to hit the ground running with her team in 2023.

“Our games through the 2022 season were quite close, only losing by small margins, but we were happy with our performance, still giving competitive, strong games to other clubs,” she said.

“We are hoping to still bring a competitive, strong game every week and continue on from where we left last season and hopefully play finals.”

The Bombers will keep the same coaching line-up as they had last year, with Hird in A Grade, Ola Nimo leading B Grade and Megan Taylor taking on B Reserve.

“Our coaches have been preparing hard with their development within themselves to improve their own skills and knowledge to share onto our netball group,” Hird said.

The players themselves have had a busy pre-season, training two night a week as well as competing in practice matches and a pre-season camp.

Wandella’s senior sides will look a little different to last year, losing and gaining a few players.

“We have had a few losses after last season due to injuries and switching to other clubs but have also gained new faces which we are very happy about,” Hird said.

PLAYER TO WATCH

Young gun Kaylee Ship had a terrific season in the under 17s last season, as well as playing A Grade every week, and will be one to look out for in 2023.
