THIS Saturday will see the Annual Summertime Pools Challenge match on between Swan Hill Division 1 and Murray Downs 1, commencing at 1.30pm at the Swan Hill Bowls Club.
Swan Hill will need to put their best foot forward to defeat the top of the ladder leader Murray Downs and claim the shield.
There will be an ongoing sausage sizzle for spectators, with all most welcome to come along and watch some good bowling. We encourage those who may be interested in gaining an insight into lawn bowls to come and observe the game and for families and friends to come and support the players.
Last week, Swan Hill defeated Moulamein by 27 shots, with two rinks up and one rink down and maintaining fourth spot on the ladder. Lyndon Shadbolt’s rink led the way with a very good win.
Swan Hill’s Division 2 team scraped over the line against Balranald, with Alan Marshman’s rink gaining enough shots up to cover the other two rinks narrow losses. Division 2 still have a slim chance of making the four and they meet their Manangatang rivals tomorrow at Swan Hill.
Division 3 went down by 13 shots overall to Tooleybuc last week, with Tooleybuc winning all three rinks, with close scores on each rink. A credit to Swan Hill 3 who made up the team with several new players.
Swan Hill 1 pulled off a four shot win overall in Midweek Pennant on Tuesday against Murray Downs 2, with one rink up and one down. Our Division 2 side also had one rink up and one down against Lake Boga 2, losing by two shots overall.
Twenty-four players enjoyed Friday Frolic last Friday. There was a mini jackpot drawn as the top prize didn’t go off in the first draw. Kane Kendell, Damien McBeath and Nevan Green were the lucky winners of $100. It will all be happening again today from 3pm onwards and the jackpot still remains above $100, so it’s worth trying your luck. Come along and enjoy this social afternoon.
Happy Birthday to John Dillon on his 95th birthday this week. John still enjoys a game of bowls on a Friday.
