Saints assistant coach suspended

Tooleybuc-Manangatang assistant coach Danny Fraser will be missing from the Saints coaching staff for his club’s upcoming encounters against Kerang and the Mallee Eagles, after being handed a three-game suspension by the Central Rivers Independent Tribunal last Thursday night.

As a result of a Match Review Panel investigation, Fraser was referred straight to the Independent Tribunal on a charge of ‘engaging in any other act of misconduct or serious misconduct’ during Tooleybuc-Manangatang’s 117-point loss to Nyah-Nyah West United during round eight of the Central Murray Football Netball League season.

The incident occurred after the half-time siren of the seniors match, when a melee between the two sides broke out in front of the Tooleybuc-Manangatang coaches’ box after the siren. The melee then spilled over the boundary line, where Fraser dragged Nyah-Nyah West United’s Blake Larkings off of a Tooleybuc-Manangatang player.

Fraser will be eligible to return to his assistant coaching duties against Tyntynder on July 9, having served the first game of his penalty during his club’s 47-point loss to Woorinen on Saturday.

In further tribunal news, Moulamein’s will be missing key forward Josh Flight until their Round 11 game against Quambatook on July 9.

Flight was reported as a result of a Match Review Panel investigation and was referred to the Independent Tribunal on a charge of ‘intentionally or carelessly striking another person.’ Flight was found guilty of the charge and was handed a three-game sanction – starting with the Swans 22-point win over Ultima on the weekend and will be unavailable for Moulamein’s upcoming games against Wandella and Murrabit following the Queen’s Birthday bye.
