Hard work pays off for students

TOOLEYBUC Central School senior students have finished the year with strong HSC results, which principal Melanie Wait attributes to small classes and supportive teachers.

The sole Year 12 HSC student Keisha Andrews achieved one of the school’s four band five results, scoring above 80 in food technology.

Ms Wait said Miss Andrews was taking a gap year to find her passion and decide what she wanted to do next.

“Nothing is off the table for Keisha at this point, with university still an option and she has really strong connections in the community for pathways into a career as well, from the part-time work she took on throughout her schooling,” Ms Wait said.

“She has done really well with strong results in English, and she was the school captain, and outstanding leader and role model for the school.

“As the only Year 12 HSC student, she had such dedicated time from her teachers, and that targeted instruction made all the difference for her.

“She still had that support and modelling in her food technology and PE classes, completing them alongside Year 11 students.”

The other Year 12 students in the 2024 cohort were engaged in the school’s careers program.

“Our other students enrolled in Year 12 found early apprenticeships and are thriving in the workforce,” Ms Wait said.

Overall, Tooleybuc Central School’s six senior HSC students sat 15 exams, earning four band fives and five band fours, with a score of 70 and above.
