Swans to test strong Lake Boga outfit

LAKE Boga A-grade playing coach Anna Archie said their Anzac weekend clash against Swan Hill on Sunday would be their “first real big test” of the season.

“With all due respect to our opposition so far, Swan Hill are normally strong year after year,” Archie said.

“Last year in our round match game against (the Swans) we matched them until half time, until the wheels sort of fell off regarding fitness.”

Lake Boga enters the match in good form, having beaten Tooleybuc-Manangatang 53-47 in round one, before a convincing 67-17 defeat of Koondrook Barham.

“I like going in blind and keeping my head in our channel rather than thinking about the other team,” Archie said.

“I do think it will be relatively close.

“I’m even more confident in our ability and structure this year so I predict a difference of only five goals either way.”

Archie said the side has all positions covered, and the team was very close on and off court.

“We have a pretty even skill set,” she said.

“I don’t pick a (starting) seven until the day and we turn up to the court. It depends on the day and how settled the girls are.”

Swan Hill’s playing coach Madeleine Nalder is similarly raring to go.

“We will be looking to put together four quarters of consistent netball and focus on executing the basics well,” Nalder said.

“Kelsey McCoy will be a player to watch this week for Swan Hill.

“She was strong for us in the midcourt in round one against Mallee Eagles.

“Ingrid Condely has also had a good start to the season in goals.”

In matches on Saturday, Tooleybuc Manangatang will host Cohuna Kangas, Koondrook Barham will host Tyntynder and NNW United will host Mallee Eagles.
