Night game an option after Good Friday success

COHUNA and Woorinen are undecided if next year’s Good Friday clash could be played underlights following the success of their inaugural Good Friday Central Murray league clash.

With Cohuna hosting the game next year, and able to host night matches, the clubs said they were open to options.

“We haven’t decided yet, we do have the luxury of being able to host a night game,” Cohuna president Rick Easton said.

“I think a day is more suitable for an Easter Weekend as people are still able to go away after the game.”

“We will work that out later.”

Both clubs were thrilled with the success of their first Good Friday clash, with a huge crowd witnessing a thrilling clash, where Cohuna stormed from behind to snatch an eight point win.

“It was a very successful day, there was a good roll up and great weather,” Woorinen president Craig Threadgold said.

Even after the final siren had blown there was still a considerable amount of people still at the ground with Woorinen hosting a Auskick come and try after the senior match.

“We had a fair bit riding on this because it is the first Good Friday game that the Central Murray has done,” Threadgold said.

“I am happy with how it has gone, it has been a good day.”

Easton praised Woorinen for putting on a great show.

“I think it is a great iniative and I just want to thank Craig for thinking of us when he was looking for an opponent,” he said.

“It will be down at Cohuna next year and I am really looking forward to it.”
