Efficient, free health check

WHEN you head into Marraboor Pharmacy, you might see an intriguing machine near where you drop off your scripts.

This is the SiSU Health Station, a medical device that offers a free health check in less than five minutes.

The SiSU Health Station provides medical grade assessments of height, weight, BMI, blood pressure, heart rate, body composition, diabetes risk, smoking status and stress test.

Pharmacist Jarred Kiel encourages people to have a try of the machine

“I think its just to empower people to monitor and keep an eye on their own blood pressure (and other things),” Mr Kiel said.

“They can come in and drop their scripts in and while they wait they can have a go, it only takes a few minutes.”

Mr Kiel believes blood pressure is something like people should be checking more often, and that a device like the SiSu Health Station will help with that.

“Blood pressure can be sort of hidden, it doesn’t usually show symptoms for people, so some people are walking around with high blood pressure and they don’t know they are,” he said.

“So if you’re not sure what your blood pressure is, it’s a good idea to come in and get it done.”

The station is supported by the SiSU member portal, meaning patients can track and monitor their health check results over time and discuss this with their pharmacist or GP to help set their goals for health improvement.

The member portal also provides patients access to other complimentary support tools, such as an online health risk assessment, dietary and exercise plans, and health information. All patient data in the SiSU in stored in Australia and meets the highest global security standards.

Mr Kiel says that if anyone is a little hesitant about using the technology to reach out to the Marraboor staff.

“If they aren’t sure and they don’t know how to use the technology or anything they can either talk to one of our staff and we can help them use it, or if they prefer one of the pharmacists here can manually take their blood pressure for free,” Mr Kiel said.

“We’ll be here in store and we are happy to talk to them about it while they are here.”
