LAKE Boga Uniting Church pastor Barry Page says he has been blown away by the array of gifts locals have donated for those in need this Christmas.
More than 250 gifts have been dropped off at businesses around town in an overwhelming demonstration of the Boga spirit.
Kate Fielder from the post office, Leonie Taylor from the Lake Boga café and milk bar, Troy Davis from the pharmacy and Honey Richmond from the pub were all happy to offer their support as drop off points for the presents which are labelled according to age and gender.
Mr Page has been a pastor for 16 years and currently works with four congregations in the Eastern Mallee; Lake Boga, Nyah West, Manangatang and Meatian.
“The generosity is especially noteworthy because I know people have done it hard this year,” he said.
“People have been struggling and some have lost jobs.
“If anybody needs support or somebody to talk to over the Christmas period they are welcome to give me a call.
“And if they are religious and want it I can pray with them.”
The gifts are now piled in the church so that the congregations can see the community’s generosity, and have joined the “empty” tree that is used every year by multiple churches for locals to bring supplies for those in need.
The gifts will soon be distributed to families through Mallee Family Care, as well as other distributors, to spread some festive cheer after a tough year.
Mr Page and the team of local business owners very much appreciated the generosity of the community and wanted to thank everyone who made a donation.
